Secretive adoptions no longer the norm in U.S., study says
NEW YORK - The secrecy that long shrouded adoption has given way to openness, and only about 5 percent of infant adoptions in the U.S. now take place without some ongoing relationship between birth parent and adoptive family, according to a comprehensive new report.

(BP) -- A new survey of adoption agencies confirms that the secrecy once associated with adoption is no longer a reality, with 95 percent of all domestic adoptions now being "open" or "semi-open" -- that is, the birth parents and adoptive parents having at least some level of contact.
