COLUMBIA COUNTY — A 16-year-old with two children, an 18-year-old pre-nursing student and an 18-year-old senior improving in school all have one similar trait: they are all living in foster homes locally.
Local adoption and foster parenting agencies say it is hard enough placing babies and toddlers with families. For teenage foster children, it’s even harder.
Referred to as a “dynamic duo,” brothers Dominico, 12 and Marquez 11 are living in separate foster homes but are hoping they will be both be adopted into a family that enjoys sharing a lot of activities together.
It all kept coming back to three. When Bill and Sandi Wagner first thought about adoption, they did the 21st century thing: They went to the Internet. “We were looking for straight-out adoption agencies in West Virginia,” Sandi Wagner said. “We did not want to foster to adopt. We wanted strictly adoption. But we couldn’t find any in West Virginia.”
