How can a birthmother prepare for a meeting with the adoptive parents?
Answered By Editor
Normally, the caseworker helps the
birthmother prepare for a meeting with the
adoptive parents. The caseworker should
orient the birthmother of important
background information about the adoptive
parents.
As a birthmother, let the discussion be as
normal as possible as if you are having a
conversation with a friend. If you feel the
need to ask questions or clarify some points
with regards to the background information
the caseworker has given you, do not hesitate
to ask. However there are questions you need
to avoid asking the adoptive parents. Subject
matters such as sterility should not be
discussed.
