Adoption Feedback: Definitely an American first name and Chinese middle. She will be living here so she would fit in better but she’d have something to represent her culture as well.

Adoption Feedback: It could take up to 2 1/2 years to adopt a baby/child from China - that is if you are approved. Only a certain number of babies/children are allowed to leave the country now.

Adoption Feedback: Since she will be coming to America I think you should give her an American name. Maybe use a Chinese middle name

Adoption Feedback: I am in the process of an adoption from China right now and can tell you that the “paperwork” stage takes 4-6 months.
The “waiting” stage is about 3-4 years right now.

China also has very stringent guidelines on who they will let adopt their children.

As far as cost, I’m sure that your question wasn’t meant as “How cheap and quick can I adopt?” but more for budgeting purposes. You should plan to budget at least $20-$25,000 if you are serious.

Adoption Feedback: An adoption journey is not easy…tensions run high & nerves get strained. it won’t, however, magically stop once the baby comes. You should work to get some counseling (marriage and/or family) now so you can learn new techniques to create a happier more functional family to bring the child into.

When the honeymoon is over & adoption related stress comes into the picture, it will add stress to the marriage again. The travels will also add stress. Get your marriage as healthy as possible and work hard to keep it that way.

Invest in some marriage books, go to a marriage conference, seminar or retreat, find another couple who has been there/done that & see if they will mentor you, get in front of a counselor who you trust to give you good advice.
