We need your help! ‘Adopt’ a rubber duck for the Duck Fest Derby presented by JM Family Enterprises. This beloved race will be the culminating attraction at the KID Festival of the Arts on February 2nd. 20000 yellow rubber ducks floating down the New River is quite a sight to see! All proceeds go to help Kids In Distress (voted Best Charity of 2007 by New Times Broward/Palm Beaches), which provides children’s emergency shelters, foster care, therapeutic preschool, and prevention services. KID provides QUALITY care and achieves successful outcomes due to the additional financial support received from the community (including ‘adoptive’ Duck ‘parents’). You can also win great prizes, including a 2008 Scion XD as the Grand Prize! The cost is per duck ( for a Quack Pack, 0 for a Big Quack, and 0 for a Flock of Ducks). You need not be present to win. To join the race and support KID go to: kidsindistress.org and click on the Duck Fest Derby logo. Ducks will also be available to adopt the day of the race. It will be a great family-friendly day with free fun activities (recycled arts & crafts, bounce house, rock climbing wall, carnival games, Best Buy Wii gaming competition, youth dance performances and more). The day-long festival will be held at Esplanade Park located at 400 SW 2nd St. in downtown Fort Lauderdale, (near Broward Performing Arts Center, directly across the street from the Museum of Discovery and Science) from 11-4 pm, culminating with the epic duck …
