Adoption Feedback: american name
Adoption Feedback: Maybe an American first name and a Chinese middle name?
Here is a link for Chinese girl names. Hope it helps!
Adoption Feedback: I have friends who adopted a baby girl from China recently, and they gave her an American first name (Mollie) and a Chinese middle name to honor her heritage. Good Luck and Congratulations!
Adoption Feedback: I would give her an American first name and a Chinese middle name so that it can reflect both cultures!
Adoption Feedback: My wife and I are currently in the process of adopting two boys from Ethiopia. We thought long and hard about this and ultimately decided to give our boys American names, but we’re keeping their Ethiopian names as their middle names. We decided to do this because we wanted them to “fit in”, not only with society but within our family b/c we have 3 other children. When our boys get older, we’re going to let them pick which name they want to go by.
Adoption Feedback: Why don’t you give her one of each. It will show both her Chinese and American heritage. Like a Chinese first name and an American middle name or vice versa. An american first name and a chinese middle name. That would be very cute.
Adoption Feedback: She already have a Chinese name. It’s the name she was given at birth by her Chinese parents like my grandmother’s name Mei Ling. My Chinese name is Ching Wan Chin Yung or Chingwan Chinyung and my “American” name is Merrick Brice-Baliton. I have four Chinese names not including my last name.
Adoption Feedback: An american 1st name and a chinese middle name (just so she remembers her roots) would be ideal
Madison Mae would be pretty xx
Adoption Feedback: If you give her your last name, why not give her a Chinese middle or first name so that she has some tie to her native culture?
A Chinese name that stands for something like one of the words below would be pretty cool!
dream
hope
faith
love
happiness
fulfilled
Adoption Feedback: Alot of people give them an american first name and a chineese middle name or give them a chineese name for legal things but also give them an american name for school and jobs and everyday life.
Adoption Feedback: Pick some American and Chinese names and then when you see her (if you havn’t already) i am sure a particular name will jump out to you as the one to use!
Whatever you call her i am sure she will be well loved and happy. All the best
Adoption Feedback: I suggest an American name. But it is totally up to you!!!!
Some Ideas-
Emily Ray
Cassandra Renee (you can call her Cass or Cassy)
Leah Paige
Jasmine Marie
Isabella Joy
Adoption Feedback: give her something in between like
Mai
Lin (lynn)
Kim
Cai
An (ann)
Shan
Adoption Feedback: Good question – If I were you – I would try to incorporate both American and Chinese in her name. Whether you name her first name in Chinese and middle English or vice versa… You can always call her by her middle name if you prefer…
But do both – I think that would be wonderful… Or try to find some names that are both.. Like Sue (Suzie), etc….
Just google Chinese/American names and look through them….
Adoption Feedback: american name
Adoption Feedback: You should probaly give her an american name since she will be living here. If you give her a chinese name she will constantly be asked where she is from and what her name means or how to pronounoce it. She will also be able to blend in better with a american name kids might avoid her just because they think her name is weird or they cant pronounce it.
Adoption Feedback: Call her May! Its both english and chinese except the chinese spell it Mai! then it wont sounds so different when she grows up, asians will think she has an asian name and americans will know its american by the spelling.
Adoption Feedback: Why not give her a name tht is chinese but tht sounds like an american name so its not to hard to pronouce like Mailea(Miley)
Hope it helps!
Adoption Feedback: If you give her a completely Chinese name, she will stand out from the rest of your family. At the same time, you want to honor her heritage.
There are many good suggestions here. I like the idea of an American first name with a Chinese Middle Name, or vice versa. Find some American names and Chinese names you like, and when you meet her, decide which combination of two fit her.
Some good names have already been listed. I would check them out, and look online as well. Best of luck to you!
Adoption Feedback: chinese
Adoption Feedback: Mei-chinese name
Mia-American name
I would go with a easy name to say
Adoption Feedback: I think you should have her middle name as her Chinese name. I’m not sure if she’s born or not but has she been given a name? Perhaps you can do something like Fiona Xiao-Li if her given name was Xiao Li (that’s my name, minus my last name).
Adoption Feedback: Go with an American first name… it will simply make life easier. Maybe you want to go with an American name that is often associated with Asian-Americans (e.g., Shelby). As for the middle name, you can either go with a traditional Asian name or go with a more American-sounding name that is also often associated with Asians, without overtly being a Chinese name (e.g., Lee).
Adoption Feedback: My friend adopted from China and gave the baby an American first name and a Chinese middle name, to honor the baby’s heritage. I think it is a beautiful gesture. You are doing a wonderful thing!
Here are some ideas for a Chinese middle name:
Jia “beautiful”
Jiao “dainty, lovely”
Jiayi “household fitting”
My little sister was adopted from Chine when she was 9 and my parents renamed her Jennifer… a VERY American name. They also gave her two American middle names. She did not mind at all. So I say American name, but perhaps it would be better to keep her Chinese name as middle name.
Adoption Feedback: American name.
You don’t want to make her feel more different then she already is.
Adoption Feedback: Since she will be coming to America I think you should give her an American name. Maybe use a Chinese middle name
Adoption Feedback: Name her Chynna.
Adoption Feedback: Definitely an American first name and Chinese middle. She will be living here so she would fit in better but she’d have something to represent her culture as well.
