Can you answer ashley j’s question about Adoption?:

My maid was raped 3 months ago and she’s pregnant , but already has a daughter and cannot take care of both. She’s considering an open adoption, what can she do (LEGALLY)?

Adoption Feedback: You can contact a local adoption agengy. They will give you a book to look through with families wanting to adopt and the type of adoption they are seeking.

Adoption Feedback: contact family aid agency and a family lawyer.
you can get too many whacked people on-line and have no real intentions of really wanting a baby for themselves and then just turn around and sell the baby for big dollars.

I wish the best for your maid and wish her all the best.

Adoption Feedback: Go through a good adoption agency or adoption attorney…many couples will favor “open adoption” and most adoption processes are paid for by adopting parents so it’s no cost to you. Best of luck

Adoption Feedback: my fiancei’ can’t have children, and we would love to adopt a child, doesn’t matter to us what race the child is either, if your maid wants to put her baby up for adoption i bet she will have alot of good couples wanting him/her, i would suggest a adoption lawyer for her, most good familys will pay for the lawyer for her. and any expenses for her pregnancy will also be paid as well.

Adoption Feedback: She can do any of the following:

    1) Go to an Agency

    2) Contact an Attorney who specializes in Adoption

    3) Find the Family she wants online/through family and friends. etc
then contact an Attorney. The Adoptive parents will pay for her an Attorney.

We are interested in adopting. I have one son whom I adopted at birth. If interested have her contact us: seeking2adopt @ yahoo.com

    Good Luck!

Adoption Feedback: Please make sure to find a family lawyer who is not connected with an adoption agency/adoptive parents (lawyers often do have conflict of interest in these cases acting as more of a broker instead of an advocate for the mother), who will be a real advocate for the mother to draw up an enforceable open adoption contract.

Since open adoption is not a part of state adoption statutes it is merely a civil contract that can be easily broken by the adoptive parents leaving the birthmother, who doesn’t have the legal resources to enforce the contract. I have read many accounts of adoptive parents just disappearing leaving the birthmother with essentially a closed adoption.

Another essential component is post-adoption counseling for the mother. Relinquishment poses lifelong issues of loss even in open adoption. Since there is a sibling, you should also have a provision for the sibling to have contact and post-adoption counseling.

Adoption Feedback: Contact an adoption attorney or an adoption agency. They can help her with her options.

Also, her OB/Gyn can give her some options on where to start.
