I’m thinking of adopting from Guatemala when I’m 21 or 22. What are some ways to raise money to pay to adopt?

Can you answer wolf’s question about Adoption?:

I’ve always wanted to adopt a baby from Guatemala. The problem is we only get around $1,400 a month from my husband’s government. He’s an international student. I’m a housewife. I know you can get a tax credit when you adopt but was curious about some easy ways to raise money to pay for an adoption. Also has anyone used Los Nino agency to adopt? That’s who I’m thinking of going with.
Well with the Los Ninos Program you can be 21 and married for one year. I make some money being an author. To Ruby that law is gay. So it’s better to let the poor children grow up in orphanages all their life because they Islam forbids adoption? I find that to be sad.

Adoption Feedback: You are WAY to young to adopt, I dont even think they would allow you to adopt at that age………

Adoption Feedback: 1st of all the adoption agencies will probably deny you because of you being so young even at 21 or 22. and you having basically no income is another reason they will deny you. you have to have a stable household in order for them to allow you to bring a child into the house. and 2 to get money you should get a job. that tends to help make money…

Adoption Feedback: I’m not sure about the Guatemala program, but most international programs require you to be at least 25 or 30 years old and married at least five years. Many programs also have the requirement that you be at least 25 years older than the child. So, you may have longer to save than you think!

    Adoption Feedback: Dear,
in case u r not aware, adoption in Islam is not allowed. It was forbidden when Prophet Muhammad PBUH adopted Zayd ebn Haritha and gave him his name, Zayd ebn Muhammad. Later, after Islam was revealed, Allah ordered the prophet to give Zayd his own father’s name and not refer to him as his son. There is also another point, if u adopt a boy, it will be haram that he will be living with u when he grows up as he is not a mehrem to u, and if it’s a girl, same thing goes to ur husband. How about sending money regularly to an orphan “ikfal yateem” .I hope u think twice and do some research regarding adoption in Islam, ask some Islamic scholars b4 u do this. good luck

Adoption Feedback: Google adoption grants (look at Shaohanna’s Hope and the Dave Thomas Foundation for jumping off points, they both have some links on adoption grants).

You could get an adoption loan (credit card, second mortgage, unsecured, etc.)

As you said, the feds give a tax credit for each adoption. Some states do as well.

Some employers offer adoption benefits. See if you might qualify for that.

Google for adoption fund raising ideas. Some adoptive parents have sold crafts, held garage sales and done many other types of fund raisers to help cover some of the adoption expenses.

I think it’s marvelous that you’re thinking ahead & making plans now even before you can move forward with it!

    Best wishes!

Adoption Feedback: I am American Muslim living in Egypt, I have heard it numerous times about Adoption being Haram in Islam.
My husbands father and his wife adopted and that other woman took all the money from his own blood relations and put it all in that girls name. His blood children lost alot of apartments, money and business because of this.

Also to raise money to adopt? That is only the beginning of money, you must have alot of money to buy clothes, cover medical costs, food. The real expenses came after having children. Get a good stable job first before thinking of bringing in a new one into your family.

Sorry to offend you but this is the only reason I replied to your answer “Ruby is completely correct” A law in Islam is NOT Gay! Are you saying God’s laws are outdated? He only put forth rules in order to protect us.

Not to mention other things when the child becomes older or if/when you do decide to have your own children.
