I am thinking about adopting a baby from China, and want to know if any one has tried to adopt a baby from another country and what type of difficulties you encountered.

Adoption Feedback: Try saving your own people, not going to other countrys and saving theirs
Adoption Feedback: I have nothing aginst this at all, what I dont understand is why is everyone looking overseas for these babies. There are so many babies here in the US that need loving nurtering homes and all these shows I watch and famous people are going overseas. How does that help our own? We all have a right to do what we chose but if it were me id look a little closer to home.

Adoption Feedback: i know its way diffrent from me experienceing it, but i saw some couple adopt 2 babies from china on its a baby story this morning! it took them over a year in a half to complete paper work in such but after a year in a half went overto china to get there little ones!!!!!

Adoption Feedback: In answer to Mommy’s response, it is nearly impossible and heartbreaking to adopt a child domestically. Aside from being scruitinized by every organization under the sun to judge your ability to parent (hello? why don’t they do this with ALL parents?), once you get cleared, 50% of the time something goes wrong and you lose the baby that you have put so much time and effort into adopting and in many cases, have already taken home and bonded and love the child. With international adoption this doesn’t happen.
I wholeheartedly agree with international adoption, especially in the case of China, where female babies are unwanted and languish in Chinese orphanages, and are often allowed to die in what are called “the dying rooms.”
Adoption Feedback: I know more than one person who has done this. If you want a girl, they’ll give you three. If you want a boy, now way. He will either have serious health problems or other issues. Dont listen to these idiots about who you should adopt.
Adoption Feedback: my aunts friend adopted twin babies from china. in america the birth mother has 6 months to take her child back. but in china the mother can never get the child back. however you have to stay there for like 2 weeks or so and it may be kinda pricey but you may love your end result.

the problem is that now they have to face the child’s desired to want to be separated, the adopted child is questioning about her origin, while the parents dont want she to comeback to where she belongs.
Adoption Feedback: a former co-worker of mine adopted a little girl from China. It took her the better part of two years to get everything settled out, and from what she said it was not cheap. I don’t even know if it was expensive from greasing palms or from all the paperwork and the legal mumbo-jumbo.
As for those who are wondering why adopt from overseas, I have a good answer for that too.
With the multitude of lawsuits and liabilities that are enforced/applied/ramrodded in the US I am not surprised people head overseas where you only see a lawyer when you go on trial. In the US I bet if Joe Offthestreet found out his daughter got adopted by Brangelina he would go digging in the batting of an eyelash. Better to make a discreet adoption somewhere else. Madonna screwed up by making her plans so public so soon. If you noticed, no one knew Angelina had adopted Zahara until she already had the little girl in her posession.
Adoption Feedback: Well, I would like to adopt from ethiopia. It is a lot quicker, less expensive, and you only have to be in their country for 3 days. The girls in ethiopia are treated very badly, (genital mutilation) and their orphanages are overrun with many sicknesses that they have no meds for. My S-I-L is adopting from China right now. She has been in the process for over a year and it will be another year before she gets her baby. She has specified that she wants a girl, and now it is taking a long time to get a girl from China b/c they have given so many girls away that they are now realizing that their boys now have no one to marry. She did all of her paperwork and home study and paid for all of that and now, it is going to expire and she will have to do it all over again and pay for all of it over again also. I would really look in to what country you are wanting to adopt from Adopting is a great thing. It is a great opportunity to save a child from an unpleasant life. Good luck in your long journey!
By the way, it did used to be that girls were very easy to get from China b/c they are communist and are only allowed either 1 or 2 children….i can’t remember, anyway, they all want a boy to carry on the family name. So, most of them will keep having chidlren and if it is a girl, they will give it up for adoption and keep trying for a boy. It is crazy to me. But, now the governmant is giving parents financial incintives to keep their girls so the population will not be unequal. After all, who are these boys going to marry if they give all their girls away?
Adoption Feedback: My daughters teacher did that last year. You have travel back and forth a few times and it is expensive. Some of the visits can be a week or two at a time.
