Just doing my Income Tax and realized that there is a Credit for Adoption Expenses.

Really, those celebrities/rich folks don't really care for those kids. They however probably do care more about the Credit for Adoption Expenses.

I think that you guys have made very valid points. Yes all children deserve good homes and there shouldn't be a preference of where they come.
I myself am adopted by an american father and a nicaraguan mother. I was born in nicaragua and lived there until i was 9. For children there and many other 3rd world countries foster care, state care, or communities coming together to help the needy children doesnt really exist. If it does its mainly in the bigger cities. There are people who go on mission trips and help, but unlike here in the US children are placed under the care of foster parents and are given healthcare benefits through the goverment ( Not all of them im aware) but for those children overseas, they are starving and their countries dont have the type of resources that we have here in america to help children.

I think foreign adoption shuld be banned UNLESS one adopts from their own country first. We have kids who need a home. And if they adopt from countries that are poor, well guess what, this country is as poor as hell. China, where people adopt, could buuy our country because we owe 600 billion as is. Why not adopt from here? People are just retarted I guess

well, i would just like to say that i am 16 years old and have been in and out of foster homes all my life. I have LIVED the so called "better" life, i have watched as families come looking for that cute and cuddly baby completeley overlooking the older children, i have never known what it is like to have a family and am not very hopeful considering in a few years the system is just goona spit me out and forget i ever rlly existed. it makes me frustrated how people completely overlook us older children. i have no words to explain myself except im happy for the children adopted by celebrities and i wish them the best of luck but i am a child who needed a home and a parent as well, and still do. i would love to see the day that a celebrity would help our country become more aware of this and give an older child a chance at a better life!

Adoption Feedback: i guess its just where ever you feel drawn to. I personally don't think it matters where the child comes from, it will still be one less child without a home in the world.

i hate it when people make those comments though, if you're so concerned, why don't you adopt a kid from america then?

no offense to you though, as you are just asking a question, however I don't think that there is a answer to it.

Adoption Feedback: Adopting in America WOULD BE adopting in a foreign country for some of us though. Not all of us are American, nor do all of us live in America.

Adoption Feedback: Why not do a search here before asking this question. It has been asked many, many times before and ones like me that did adopt from another country are probably sick of repeating themselves.

Adoption Feedback: This is such a commonly asked question and the answers are usually so inaccurate.

1. Adopting internationally is NOT NOT NOT easier procedurally. You have to go through the same homestudy process as domestic adoption, PLUS meet the requirements of USCIS (U.S. immigration) AND the foreign government.

2. There are actually not a lot of infants available for adoption in the U.S. There are a lot of older children available for adoption. They deserve advocating for, and they deserve families, but many people simply won't consider adopting an older child, or they do consider it but don't feel able to meet the needs of an older child. Right or wrong, many people want to adopt infants, so the availablility of infants internationally is a draw to international adoption.

3. While there are many serious ethical considerations in international adoption, and parents need to take great pains to make sure they adopt ethically, I don't accept the premise that children of any one nationality deserve a family more than any other.

4. Please don't take some celebrity adoptions, such as Madonna, as typical of international adoption. Don't even get me started on her adoption! But it does make people who don't have an understanding of international adoption think that people can just go somewhere and come back with a kid, hense the misconception that there are no rules and procedures for international adoption.
