Can you answer Sardonyx’s question about Adoption?:

I’ve lived in the United States my whole life but I’m also a citizen of Lebanon. I’m aware that the Middle East is notoriously difficult when it comes to international adoption. Even if I’ve never lived in Lebanon at any point in my life, would my citizenship make it easier for me to adopt a child from there to bring to the US?

Adoption Feedback: I have dual citizenship and I have been told that it is not going to be easier adopting because of US immigration.

Adoption Feedback: I think it depends upon the country you are adopting from. Obviously, in your case Lebanon would be of interest otherwise the duel citizenship wouldn’t come into play. You should check into the adoption laws/rules there and see if it helps.

When I lived in India for a time we were only able to get legal guardianship (permanent) of our daughter because we were not Indian citizens. We had to wait till we got back to Canada to finalize the adoption which didn’t make much of a difference in the whole situation since my daughter already had our name through the Indian courts and we were her perm guardians. In our case though, if we had Indian citizenship we could have done the adoption in India while we were living there. (Then again, India doesn’t allow for duel citizenship so it would have been a moot point).

Anyways, check into the adoption laws in Lebanon and that should shed some light on whether or not it would assist you.

Adoption Feedback: You will probably have to go through the same process on the US side as any other prospective international adoptive parent. However, having dual citizenship may make you more eligible to adopt from your country of birth.

You would have to contact the adoption authorities in-country.
