My wife read this book to me over a year ago while driving on a family vacation.. We ourselves have been Foster Parents for 4 years now. We were so touched and amazed by Christie with her honesty and conviction we were moved to pray and ask God how we could share this valuable resource. We ourselves do not have a normal savings, but we did have a set amount set back. We prayed for that dollar amount and a set number of books. In doing so our prayers were answered and we have been sharing Christie Erwin’s Book with everyone we cross paths with that have had questions or desires to Foster parent.

“Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.” James 1:27

This books is wonderful, insightful and well written. I’m in the process of being certified to be a foster parent. I read Christie’s book in one night….couldn’t put it down! It’s just a really good book to help you understand the ups and downs, joys and grief of being a foster parent. I recommend this book to anyone that is considering foster parenting.

I read this book a couple of months before our first placement. I knew there would be emotions involved with being a foster parent but Christie affirmed my emotions and time and time again I have gone back to this book to be assured of them. Her honesty pours from this book and her compassion for His children is evident. If you are planning on or are already in the foster care system please read this book. It is amazing!

My wife and I both read the entire book within a couple of days of receiving a copy. Christie does an amazing job of detailing what it is like to foster/adopt. She doesn’t hold back when it comes to describing the joys and heartaches that go hand in hand with this journey. The honesty and openness you will find in this book is truly inspirational.

Do you have questions about foster care? Are you uncertain about what it really takes to do foster care? Do you wonder if it is something you can and should do? If you are searching for real insight into foster care and wondering what your role should be, add this to your must read list! I believe that Christie would say, “If He has called you, He will equip you.” If you are struggling with your faith in any area of life, if you have a hard time trusting your heavenly Father, read this book. Christie doesn’t sugar coat any of her feelings, but takes you to the raw core of emotions, both joyful and painful that occur in the heart of a parent. Christie’s story speaks of the universal language of love between a parent and a child. But even bigger and deeper than that is the love spoken between the seeker and the Father. You will find HIM in the pages of this book! It is a book of faith and trust in the most uncertain of circumstances. It goes beyond the scope of parenting into the realm of being a child of God. It is a book for every seeker and every believer.
