Christopher & Peter Hitchens on Abortion, Liars, and Bill Clinton (1995-3)

February 20, 1995 Watch the full program: thefilmarchived.blogspot.com Christopher Hitchens: www.amazon.com Peter Hitchens: www.amazon.com Dr. Henry Foster, Jr., is Professor Emeritus and former Dean of the School of Medicine at Meharry Medical College in the United States. He is also Clinical Professor, Obstetrics and Gynecology at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Henry Foster served as US President Bill Clinton’s Senior Advisor on Teen Pregnancy Reduction and Youth Issues, and was a nominee to the post of Surgeon General of the United States by Clinton in 1995. Foster, an obstetrician from Tennessee, was nominated to fill the void left by Jocelyn Elders, but garnered substantial controversy when he admitted that he had performed abortions. Although there were questions raised concerning his involvement with forced sterilizations during the Tuskegee Syphillis Experiment, Dr. Foster has sharply denied involvement although employed by the University during the final period of the experiments. When asked how many abortions he had performed, he initially replied that it had been few, but later stated the number was likely substantially higher. Opponents accused him of dishonesty, while he defended himself by stating that he couldn’t make a spur of the moment specific recollection without examining his records. Foster faced significant opposition in the Senate, mostly by pro-life Republicans. Foster’s nomination was withdrawn on June 22, following a fillibuster by Senator Phil

Dealing with an unplanned pregnancy can be very hard, even traumatic, and

deciding what to do will be even more difficult. You may feel completely

alone at this time, but you are not. According to the pregnancy studies,

nearly 60 percent of pregnancies in the United States are unplanned. Millions

of women have been, and are, in your shoes. Keeping a proper perspective at

this time is important. The most critical thing to remember is that help is

out there for you.
There are basically three main paths: parenting, abortion or adoption.

Following is some information that has been gathered for you to review that

may guide you in your decision making process. The more informed you are, the

better you will feel about your decision in the end.
Cost Differences

There is no cost to you if you choose adoption. In fact, pregnancy-related

expenses are typically paid for by the adoptive family, which often include

medical care and living expenses toward the end of your pregnancy. Examples

may include: rent, utilities, maternity clothing, food, prenatal vitamins and

any other medical expenses not covered by your insurance or Medicaid. You can

speak with and adoption specialist about your specific needs by calling 866-

912-9890 or by visitinghttp://eternaladoptions.org/category/birth-mother-help/

.

Depending on how far along you are in your pregnancy, the cost could range

from 0-,000 for an abortion. There may also be additional charges for

ultrasound, the morning after pill, birth control and further medical

treatment, if an infection should occur. There are other critical abortion

related factors to consider other than cost. The effects of abortion, both

physical and emotional, can be long lasting. Of those who have had abortions,

most regret their decision for a variety of reasons. It does not work to

pretend a baby never existed; an abortion will not accomplish that.

Birthmothers still have to accept that they were pregnant; they will still

have to deal with separation from the child that was conceived and will still

experience loss. Abortion may seem like a quick, easy, and logical solution,

but the outcome for birthmothers and possibly birthfathers will not be that

easy.

Parenting is the most expensive option. The total cost to parent a child can

range from ,000-,000 monthly. This estimate may include: diapers, baby

bottles, formula and/or food, clothing, car seat, day care, blankets, crib or

basinet, and hygiene products. A parent must also budget for shelter, food,

transportation, and utilities to raise their child long term.

When all of these expenses are added up, it may cost approximately ,000 – $

24,000 per year to raise a child. This estimate does not include education

and other items that children will require or want, such as entertainment,

toys, etc.
If you, a friend, or family member are a birth mother in an unwanted

pregnancy situation and are considering placing a child for adoption, please

visit  http://eternaladoptions.org for pregnancy resources, help and support,

information on locating potential adoptive parent profiles and other adoption

related help and advice.
It is important for birthmothers in crisis or unexpected pregnancy situations

to have helped to make informed decisions about parenting, abortion, or

placing their child for adoption. Through past experience we can educate

birthmothers in need of help and support.

Philadelphia DHS Pressures Minor To Have Late Term Abortion?

hotair.com Mind the question mark, because there are a few versions of the story as to how a case worker from the Philadelphia Department of Human Services procured a late-term abortion for a teen in the care of a foster mother who opposed it. The Daily News reports on allegations from the foster mother that not only did DHS pressure her foster daughter into the abortion, they threatened to take away the teens other child if she put up a fight over it. DHS says that a language difference created a misunderstanding: A DEPARTMENT OF Human Services caseworker pressured a pregnant Mayfair teenager to undergo a late-term abortion by threatening to take away either her toddler or her unborn baby if she had the child, according to the teens foster mother. The alleged strong-arm tactic happened one day after DHS learned of the pregnancy, when the girl was about 22 weeks pregnant, according to her foster mother and the girls social worker, Marisol Rivera. The Daily News also learned that: * DHS got a Family Court judges order allowing it to take the girl for an abortion, after the girls birth mother refused to approve the procedure. * By the time DHS arranged for the abortion in March the girl was 24 weeks pregnant. She had to undergo the procedure in New Jersey because abortions in Pennsylvania are illegal at 24 weeks. * Although it is DHS policy that a DHS worker accompany any minor who has a court-ordered medical procedure, this did not happen on the girls first attempt to have

“After 4 years of viewing the ruthless and unsparing actions of CPS… I wrote a scathing report, entitled ‘The Corrupt Business of Child Protective Services.” The report cost me my senate seat.” As we now know, Nancy Schaefer lost more than her senate fighting CPS. Let’s keep her spirit alive, and keep fighting against the “ruthless and unsparing” gang of thugs known as CPS. This video is Part 1 of a 2, a powerful speech, given by Nancy Schaefer in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, August 15, 2009. ========================================================= Nancy Schaefer, former Georgia State Senator and President of Eagle Forum of Georgia and Eagle Forum’s National Chairman of Parents’ Rights, spoke at the World Congress of Families in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on the subject of “The Unlimited Power of Child Protective Services.” Nancy Schafer explained to over 4000 attendees from some 60 countries how CPS is a threat to children and families not only in the US, but in many other countries that have patterned their Child Protective Services, Foster Care, Family Court and Adoption Services after the US and supplied, with taxpayer dollars, the financial incentives to turn all Child Protective Services into a lucrative business. Nancy Schaefer, as always, was on the cutting edge of how to take the family back from the “social gestapo” made up of judges, caseworkers, court appointed attorneys, investigators, guardian ad litems, psychologists, psychiatrists, counselors, and more

For people who have been adopted and are having trouble moving past it. I know people will say that you were chosen by someone else, but those homes don’t always work out as the best second chance. And sometimes, adoptees get stuck at the part about being left behind. To all adoptees who are stuck, I understand how you feel because I am adopted too and understand the overwhelming emotions that some people feel. There are adoptees who aren’t affected the same way and that’s fair, everyone deals differently, so if you are adopted and haven’t struggled with it, good for you. ——- Greg Laswell – “High & Low” ~~No Copyright Infringement Intended~~
