Our adoption of Katelin from China
Â
Three women’s lives share a common core: they have all been profoundly affected by adoption. KAREN (Annette Bening) had a baby at 14, gave her up at birth, and has been haunted ever since by the daughter she never knew. ELIZABETH (Naomi Watts) grew up as an adopted child; she’s a bright and ambitious lawyer, but a flinty loner in her personal life. LUCY (Kerry Washington) is just embarking with her husband on the adoption odyssey, looking for a baby to become their own. Courtesy of Sony Pictures Classics

google Georgia Tann – this business and it is a business has only become more corrupt. But that of course is not something you want to acknowledge.
Your video brought 2 thoughts to my mind. Is this child abandon or was she “stolen” from her birth parents. However, towards the end of your video, stolen or abandon, I sincerely think she will have a better life with you and with that thought in my mind, I wish you and your family with your lovely beautiful duaghter a wonderful life ahead.
haha, that’s my name:)
Just for information: the background song in this video is a Chinese song “???????”? and it means “In this world, only mother is good at me” (sounds unfair for dad, ^_^)
It is a theme song in a Taiwan movie with the same name. This Taiwan movie was very popular in early 1990s, in both mainland China and Taiwan.
I am sure you already witness the poor rural area of Guangxi, where the population are mainly poorly educatated farmers.
They think daughers are useless, and it is ok for them to abandon them. But it is of course illegal in China. But local government cannot do too much to stop it. A jail term will angry the parents without common sense on law, and turn them into rioters rahter than good citizens. So, usually no legal penalty is taken to against this abandonment behaviour. It is shameful.
Hopefully when your daughter grow up, she can do something to help her birthplace to improve their primary education system.
oh no, I never imagined it would be. Although some states do allow single mother adoption, its just so hard.
But I’m determined, if I am meant to be a mother, it will happen, and I’ll wait as long as I can (In fact, I’ve already started saving money for the far off future, I’m only 19)
I don’t mind being checked up on- it happens to every parent (whether by an agency or by society). actually- I think it would be great if every family was visited once every few years.
Did you adopt this cute baby from Guangxi province of China?
Your video footage looks like there.
It is not so easy as you image. You need to be a normal and mature adult couple with stable job/income. Once you submitted your application, you may need to wait years.
Even after adoption, some adoption organizations will regularly visit you and the adopted babies to make sure everything is ok.
Thanks for your kind adoption of Chinese baby girls. They are adorable.
this is encouraging! I see so many american adoptions, but so few Australian.
