    The apartheid regime in Ethiopia had sold over 3000 Ethiopian children in the name of adoption in 2009. Each child was sold for $30,000, and background check was not required on the would-be buyers. Many of the children wound up in the hands of child molesters in the West.

    Recently, authorities in Salt Lake City, Utah have arrested the founder of an Ethiopian orphanage, Lon Harvey Kennard, on child molestation charges for molesting the 6 children he had purchased from the regime in Ethiopia.

    @divinehoney5670 I agree. Anyone referring to children as “brats” has attitude problem. Its wrong to stereotype American children.

    Actually divinehoney, the person who made this video is an adoption agency. They are implying that we should pay their agency thousands of dollars to adopt a child who lives in these conditions. I am most definitely pro adoption, but I don’t like how this video portrays the people and children of Ethiopia. As for for American children being spoiled brats, sometimes the truth hurts.

    @indianaadventuremom
    Well I’m not sure that the person that made this video was implying anything. I don’t think it’s very polite of you to call children here “spoiled US brats” a child is a child wether they are from the US or a third world country. I think you need to search your heart for love if that is how you feel.

    Ethiopia does have a lot of need. I just don’t like how you portrayed the needs in your video. Adoption is a wonderful thing, and I have been blessed to adopt children from Ethiopia. However, no one is going to solve Ethiopia’s problems with adoption. Not that my race has anything to do with my opinion on your video, but I am caucasian and the mother in a multicultural family.

    This video really bothers me. I hate how you show housing that is not up to US standards and then flash pictures of orphans. The majority of Ethiopia lives in non-us standard housing, including loving families who are capable of caring for their children.You can’t judge ability to parent on the type of structure the children live in. I recently visited a grass hut village in Ethiopia. The children there were happier and more engaging than most of the spoiled US brats I have met.

    please stop taking away our kids. if u r posing as a selfless person who wanna help my country why dont u send the family/ orphanage money or materials? ethiopians are very sad when taken away from their country. please think twice before affecting a child’s life.
