Ok this year is going way to fast for my liking. Its Thanksgiving again here in the USA and we want to wish every one a happy day full of cheer and food. I work on Thanksgiving so hopefully its a quiet day in the city. I disagree. I think we’re approaching the issue from completely different strains of thought, and it would take an actual conversation to work this out. I’d rather not bash someone anonymously on the net…it’s pointless to me.
@hrhsam no, you don’t have to choose. if you all 3 love each other you can’t help that. If you have to choose one girlfriend over another to marry, then you have to choose to marry a girl instead of a boy. Polygamous people don’t have privaledges, they are polygamous, NOT monogamous. gay people are gay, not straight. same fucking issue.

Oh God. Here we go. There is a big difference. At least you can marry one person if you’re straight and polygamous. Gay people can’t even marry the one person they love. So I think before polygamous people start getting all up in arms they should realize their privileges first.

There is no “big difference”. Both are wanting the same rights. that’s what they have in common. A man or woman shouldn’t have to CHOOSE if they all 3 LOVE each other. why does it HAVE to be ONE? Why can’t they all 3 marry each other? If a man *has* to choose only one wife, then YOU *have* to choose the opposite sex. if not, then too bad, it’s not equal. and that’s that. they dont support plural marriages = not equal

no, that’s not true. it has very much to do with the other. The goal is marriage equality, so if gays can marry so should polygamous families, yet no one ever really says a word about legalizing that because it’s the most “taboo” in people’s minds in society, even to many gay people.

Civil unions create a line between gay couples and straight ones that makes it more likely for gay couples to get the shorter end of the stick. Our government didn’t give segregated schools equal treatment, even though they promised to, so what makes you think it would give straight marriages and gay civil unions equal treatment? Plus, civil unions don’t offer the same rights as marriage, the federal government doesn’t recognize them so any federal rights with marriage the couple can’t have.
And before that, marriage consisted of one man and many women, or the joining of one man and his property. Marriage has changed. It’s not static.
They don’t live a lifestyle any different from most people. Sexual preferences aren’t really lifestyles. Not all gay people have the same lifestyle.
