    @jjjohn

    those are also some reasons but the central reason why the state has marriage recognized and regulated is for procreation and rearing of children. the law has been consistent and clear on that

    @kenballer00

    the purpose of marriage is to protect property right and determine inheritance rules, you are incorrect when you say procreation was a factor. there always have been plenty of out of wedlock kids.

    just to let you know, LGBTpeople have Civil Partnerships in the UK, in the UK they are EXACTLY the same as marriages but they dont hold the word ‘marriage’ due to its very specific use in UK law.

    plus, the only gay people who rape children are priest, so yea…

  8. kenballer00 on May 6th, 2010 7:26 pm

    @Brianwulf

    if you Go to Wikipedia and type in Baker v. Nelson, The case will show you that the same court in Loving v Virginia not only distinguished same sex marriage from interracial marriage, but established it as a right that does not exist under the constitution and never did.

    so the 14th amendment does not confer a RIGHT to gay marriage anymore than it does for polygamy

    @fireincarnation2 Hey good luck! I wish you all the best and happiness (:

  10. LSDPancake on May 6th, 2010 8:29 pm

    @kenballer00 LOLZ I thought so. You completely side stepped the question.

    Like I said, same sex marriage IS happening. If you don’t like it, you’re free to leave the planet any time you want! (:?

  11. fireincarnation2 on May 6th, 2010 8:52 pm

    As a lesbian wishing to adopt, thank you.

    @kenballer00 Tell me what the constitution says about same sex marriage.

    Get over it, troll. Same sex marriage IS happening. If you don’t like it, you’re free to leave the planet any time you want! (:

    @Brianwulf

    the right to marry someone of the same sex, marry whoever you want, or redefine marriage for everyone else is indeed an extra right or a new right according to the state’s eyes or legally speaking

  16. kenballer00 on May 7th, 2010 12:02 am

    @Brianwulf

    gays and lesbians have always been allowed to marry someone of the opposite sex for the purpose of procreation and child-rearing. what your proposing we do is create extra SPECIAL RIGHTS that exist outside the constitution

  17. xerophiLIEs on May 7th, 2010 12:44 am

    you dont see gay people telling hetero couples how many times they should have sex. why do people care? damn. i wish theyd outlaw marriage outright. why the hell do gays even want to get married. id rather just bang everyone than one person. or share anything with anyone that isnt a goverment. this includes my life.

  18. kenballer00 on May 7th, 2010 1:30 am

    @Brianwulf

    well first prove that this is a minority rights or civil rights issue in the first place, then you can talk to me about public opinion being a non-factor because as far as i know

    Same sex couples do not have a SPECIAL right to redefine what marriage is for everybody else; the ” will of the people” have a FUNDAMENTAL right under the tenth amendment to do such a task because we live in a democracy not an aristocracy.

  19. Brianwulf on May 7th, 2010 2:18 am

    @kenballer00 Sorry, to clarify public opinion has NO relevance when talking about a specific groups rights, just because public opinion may or may not be against gay people is unimportant, the majority cannot impact the rights of a minority, regardless of whether they think being gay is immoral. And Religion has NO bearing on the laws of this country, at least if things worked the way they are supposed to.

    @wentshow

    the post that you are referring to was not directed to you but to someone else

  21. LSDPancake on May 7th, 2010 2:56 am

    @kenballer00 Pawned?

    You fail at trolling but that’s obvious

  22. revaluator on May 7th, 2010 3:42 am

    I think all couples should think about adopting. This primordial urge to get one’s own genes into the population is so paleolithic.

  23. wentshow on May 7th, 2010 3:53 am

    @kenballer00 Never started? No you did. How about your post above starting: “There may have been trends of homosexuality, polygamy . . . ” The only comment I removed here was to Angie, due to the fact I misread her. I suggest you push F3 and search my handle until you find my post where I asked for a study. No, this isn’t a pwning to your credit. Nothing like it. I wrote you telling of my immediate reservations with it for support of your arguments. Still studying it.

  24. kenballer00 on May 7th, 2010 4:03 am

    @wentshow

    your the one that wanted the the study showing the differences between same sex and opposite sex couples. i gave you that study, now you are off on another subject that i have never started. i think its because you know you got pawned so you removed the comment that talked about wanting the study showing the inferiority of same sex parents and changed the subject the collasp of Rome and greece. in that case, i will give you my experts that address this topic
