The apartheid regime in Ethiopia had sold over 3000 Ethiopian children in the name of adoption in 2009. Each child was sold for $30,000, and background check was not required on the would-be buyers. Many of the children wound up in the hands of child molesters in the West.

Recently, authorities in Salt Lake City, Utah have arrested the founder of an Ethiopian orphanage, Lon Harvey Kennard, on child molestation charges for molesting the 6 children he had purchased from the regime in Ethiopia.

I think every Habesha that sees this video needs to learn from this. If you live abroad and are financially stable we need to do the same thing. Go back home and save a child from poverty and give them a chance at life.

i just want to say ty for following your hearts. but the hard part is when they grow up please just let them go which way they want just tell them you love them in what ever they choose. b/c in the end their choose will be to those who love them. GODisLOVE

Because you don’t understand I will let you know that part of the ‘fees’ of adoption include betterment for the community. In some instances, surviving families take part in the placement of these children. Your words may ring true in your heart, but please do not judge and label unitl you yourself have experienced the pain of empty arms. Adoption is not a deliution, it is a reality for allot of childrens survival

there are SOO many babies out there,COLOR doesn’t mattter.

DON’T shell out a quarter million on fertility treatments, ADOPT!!!

no one makes a fuss when asian babies are adopted soo widely, HOW COME THEY DO WITH AFRICAN BABIES.

  13. epiers on June 7th, 2010 12:04 pm

Although mysanjose’s wording is strong, there is a point. You are only buying yourself a couple of pretty brown babies, not worthy of so much gushing praise, you’re doing it because you want to and you were lucky enough to be born into a life that affords you that luxury. So don’t be deluded into thinking you are ‘angels’ because you aren’t. It should be mandatory that anyone buying a baby from a third world country must set up a small but regular donation, toward the betterment of the country.

Another christian couple buying(stealing) kids from 3rd world country. You guys have no shame you think with your money you came buy human or his organs like toys. The EVIL that coming from west in past 200 years is the worse in human history more than dark ages. Wars I II III(in the way)using nukes on Japan and many killing in Asia Africa N.S. America lead by church then capitalism by looting and slave native of many countries around the world So you guys are just a small example of your leader

I am an Ethiopian and admire and respect you for what you did. There are a few people like you left in this world, which cares so much about others. May the good lord who looks after Ethiopia and its children for thousands of years may look after you and your family. Please, when they grow up and ask question, let them know that they are from the land of 13 months of sunshine, where Christians, Jews and Muslims lived in peace for thousands of years together.
