Hello there! If you are new here, you might want to subscribe to the RSS feed for updates on this topic.

www.faintstarlite.com We get a lot of questions so we decided to share our foster adoption journey and provide basic information for families interested in learning more about adopting through foster care. Keep in mind, each state has its own rules so the info I share is specific to adopting in Wisconsin… although there is a lot of cross-over in most states. Where are we currently at in the process? As of this video’s posting date we’re just finalizing our home study and will be eligible for placement next month. Thanks to Johnson & Johnson’s Health Channel for sponsoring this video series! I met the director of their channel at a conference awhile back and I ended up telling him about our adoption plans. I reached out to him after deciding to make a series of videos + posts on the topic and J&J said they’d be happy to sponsor it. Check ‘em out at: www.youtube.com If you’re looking for more resources on American adoption or about foster care, a great resource is AdoptUsKids.org – they have photolistings, adoption stories, and details about contacting your state’s adoption resource center.

GOOD LUCK!!! There actually exists some contraversy around adoption. Some people adopt and find it hard to deal with the child. My aunt adopted my cousin and it was great. Biological child? Awesome. Hard part is making child feel at home.

I just finished a social work internship with Children’s Home Society, and I surprised myself a bit. I understood everything you talked about in this video. Interesting (and sad) bit of information: In Florida, where I live, it’s illegal for a gay person to adopt or foster a child.

Good luck with everything! You’re doing an amazing thing, there should be more people out there like you and your husband. I’m really looking forward to watching more videos about the adoption process.

My parents adopted two girls through the foster care system. They had to pay 1 thousand USD to adopt (court costs). Another thing you might like to know is that the girls both get a child support check from the state, and are medically insured through the state until their 18th birthdays.

Thanks for the video!! My fiance and I are looking into adopting once we’re ready for children and I’ve always wanted to be a foster parent anyway. You’ve really sparked my hopes again! God bless you.

I am really glad that you are going through this route. It is focused on the kids and not the money. Plus, those children need a home and love. Good luck!

Now I want to move to New York, lol..I get lonely being alone in a room with a piano bench duct taped to my back : ( But, it seems there’s a lot of absurdist folks in NY.

  27. maninwhitedress on June 6th, 2010 1:22 pm

made a comment down the page about a year ago

    just wanted to apologize

I still absolutely love this, one of my favorite things ever and a huge influence to me, I just think that the comment I made is offensive in it’s stupidity

  30. maninwhitedress on June 6th, 2010 2:54 pm

Talking with the hand, because I don’t understand. hand talk baby.

  31. robaralis on June 6th, 2010 3:45 pm

    especially steven and michael!

  32. robaralis on June 6th, 2010 4:41 pm

this is so so so good

  33. maxbfrex on June 6th, 2010 4:54 pm

the whole thing about how the children have to dance and shit is so unbelievably fantastic.

    IMMEDIATELY PARENTS

I don’t want to bring this down by comparing it to Tim and Eric, but they share the same aesthetic, a bit. This is a lot more ambitious though, and partially fucking hilarious, one of the most hilarious things I have ever seen actually. At the same time there seem to be some buried meanings and criticisms of society which make viewing some scenes incredibly uncomfortable. Brilliant

  34. jonnodotcom on June 6th, 2010 5:41 pm

dead to me (hair dryer *drop*)

  35. sarduy on June 6th, 2010 6:23 pm

  37. sarduy on June 6th, 2010 7:51 pm
