Psychiatry Drugs Foster Care Children – Kyle I took my video camera to a Foster Care Alumni meeting and asked seven foster kids to tell me about there experiences in Child Protective Services while wards of the state. One thing they all had in common was massive over drugging with psychiatric drugs. Child placement agencies, foster parents, RTCs (Residential Treatment Centers) and Therapeutic Foster Homes get paid a certain amount of money each day for taking care of a foster child. The amount of money they get paid depends on a level of care system. The more difficult the child or the more problems that child has, the more money you get. A child at the basic level of care is worth about 17 dollars a day where as a child in the highest level of care could be worth as much as a 1000 dollars a day. This puts the incentive on diagnosing children with behavior problems to justify raising their level of care. A child on psychiatric drugs is worth more than a child without problems. It is not uncommon for a foster child to be placed on many different psychotropic drugs at the same time. Some investigations have found children on as many as 13 mind altering drugs prescribed by a psychiatrists at one time. These drugs include all categories of psychiatric drugs; antidepressants, antipsychotics, mood stabilizers, anxiety medications, anticonvulsants medications, etc. The SSRI drugs are commons such as Paxil, Zoloft, Prozac, etc. Also a number of these children described taking …

The problem with any state sponsored system is that the people who receive the “treatments” are not fully participating in paying for them. Because the payment system is not direct between the carer and the “patient”,the system is open to abuse.
People who deal out treatments may be tempted to prescript the most revenue earning treatments largely at odds with the actual problems to be addressed, and may even make things worse.

If you’re diagnosed, get a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th opinion. Keep getting opinions until you get a more legitimate reason for your “illness”. Often times a persons brain can be affected by some legitimate illness. If a person has abcessed teeth from lack of dental care and does something crazy does that make them a schizophrenic? NO! @derek5042004 My husband and I are foster parents. In it for the money? In our state the stipend we get does not even cover half of what we need to care for the children..
Children are not pulled form their bio-family for no reason. There are in home serves that are available to keep the family in tact and when those fail, the kids need to be removed for their own safety and well being. Things have to be pretty bad for kids to be pulled from their bio-home and put in the foster care.

I have learned sometimes social workers do things for their own benefit (similar behavior I learned about during a course) it’s a shame the kids suffer though.
well from around here where i live, they are really bad, they are just in it for the money instead of helping kids in our county. the reason my neices and nephews were taken is cause one of the workers was jealous of my sister and it was one of her kids daddys ex, so i dunno, they always have a problem with my sister, and she don’t never do anything wrong to my knowledge
they can’t all be bad can they? I agree that some needn’t take careof children but I wanted to be a fosterparent because i grew up in crappy home environments and I wanted to provide a safe and fun one for some of the foster children?

Foster homes and CAS have a multi billion dollar business, they suck governement and tax payers money. 1500 children have died last year in Ontario in Foster homes, one seven years old boy have committed suicide because he was been abused constantly and beaten by his friends at his foster home!They over medicate children

im a aussie foster carer , we always work hard for them to see there birth parents, when safe to do so, as a foster carer i see the other side, i can say i have never had a child stay with me in the past 10 years that didnt need to be in care, they need a lot of complants about a child being in danger, and proof before a child is removed, and here they work hard to get the kids home with there real familys,
also they try to place the child with family members first, before foster carers

He Got Put In Foster Care Cause He Needs Special Care because at birth he was born with pre mature lungs. Ministrey Put Him Right In To A Foster Home Right When He Was Released From The Hospital.
