Like adoptive parents, birth mothers will also need support. There are various ways to make the placement easier to cope for birth mothers:

- Birth mothers can schedule counseling with a counselor.
- Frequent talk with close friends and relatives can be a good source to alleviate the grief and loneliness birthmother feels.
- Birthmothers can attend support group meetings.
- Birthmothers can keep a journal so that they can write what they feel and other plans they have in life.
